What is internal medicine?

Internal medicine means looking at the whole body. A symptom that shows up in one place sometimes starts somewhere else, and blood pressure, sugar and blood fats usually arrive together.

Someone puzzled by several symptoms or several test results often needs a broad look first: which matters, which can wait and whom to see.

A long-term condition does not end with one visit. Periodic tests and answering questions over the years are part of the work.
